Receipt split

Split a receipt line by line

A grocery receipt holds things for the house and things for one person. Take the personal items off first, then split what is left.

One person’s items come off the top

Mark any line as one person’s, or leave it shared. The tax printed on the receipt follows each person’s own lines, and the rest divides the way you agreed. Itemized splits are free on every plan.

Take a $176.16 receipt: $167.77 of goods and $8.39 of tax. One $89.99 item is Elena’s alone, and the $4.50 of tax on it goes with it, $94.49 in all. The remaining $81.67 divides evenly. Elena owes $135.32 and Marco owes $40.84, and together they pay the receipt to the cent. Split flat, each would owe $88.08, so carving out the item saved Marco $47.24.

A Canadian till often prints GST with PST or QST as two lines. When a receipt does, both are kept beside the tax total.

SplitExample
An itemized receipt: four lines shared, coffee beans Marco's alone, the paperback novel Elena's alone, Marco paying 48.20 and Elena 56.20.

Scan it, check it, confirm it

Photograph the receipt with the phone app and the store, date, lines, tax and total are read into a draft. The draft counts for nothing until a person checks it and confirms. A total that does not add up is refused.

On a computer, drop a photo of the receipt into Add, or scan the code Add shows with the app.

Free keeps 5 scans in hand, and 1 scan refills every 2 days. A scan that fails is given back. The paid plan has no limit on scans.
